World Food Programme (WFP) humanitarian organization revealed an average cost of food basket in Tajikistan, Trend reports with reference to the WFP's report.
According to the calculations, the average cost of the monthly household food basket in Tajikistan in June was 1,714 somoni ($168), which is an increase of 10.1 percent compared to the same month of 2021 (1,556 somoni, or $152.5).
"At regional level, the cost of food basket is highest in the GBAO region (2,297 somoni, or $225.1) due to its remoteness and general unavailability of food commodities which results in higher transport costs," the organization said.
Meanwhile, the cheapest family food basket in the reporting period was recorded in Khatlon's Jayhun district - 1427 somoni ($139.9)
The cost of a monthly household food basket was calculated to assist with interpretation of the impact of food price changes on the ability of households to afford a typical diet in Tajikistan.
