Iran seeks to increase trade with Iraq and Afghanistan

Iran is considering its capabilities to increase export volume to Iraq and Afghanistan, said deputy in the Iran Trade Promotion Organization Ahmadreza Alaei, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Iran’s export to Afghanistan and Iraq has declined, which was due to political changes and lack of political stability, he said, adding that more than 80 percent of Iran’s trade is with neighboring countries.

He pointed out that the two countries seek to support domestic production that would reduce reliance on import, in this regard Afghanistan's government plans to avoid import of plastic products and Iraq supports domestic agricultural products.

According to the official, decline of Iran’s export volume to these two countries could be compensated after political reforms and Iran can even export intermediary products or jointly manufactured products to Iraq and Afghanistan.
