President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, Trend reports citing the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH).
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the summit of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed increasing the volume of Turkmen gas supplies to China, as well as deepening economic cooperation and implementing joint projects in the field of transport and logistics.
The president of Turkmenistan proposed to hold a regular meeting of the established joint working group on gas cooperation in order to intensify the negotiation process on the construction of the fourth line of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline.
At the same time, Xi Jinping noted that the fuel and energy complex is an important area of the Turkmen-Chinese partnership and fully supported the proposals of the Turkmen side on the further development of gas cooperation and the construction of the fourth line of the gas pipeline.
Currently, Turkmen gas is supplied to China via three pipelines running along the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China route. Their total throughput capacity is 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
