Natural gas price will be increased by 8 tetri (2.43 cents) for Tbilisi Energy customers in Georgia, Trend reports via Georgian media.
The relevant decision was made by the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) on May 27. The company requested itself increase in consumer tariffs.
The new tariff will be effective from June 1 in the country and the cost of 1 cubic meter of natural gas will be 53,972 tetri (16,408 cents) instead of 46,138 tetri (14,026 cents).
The tariff adjustment was caused by a change in the marginal tariff for gas supply, which increased from 26,810 tetri (8,150 cents) to 33,449 tetri (10,168 cents).
The main reason for the tariff change was the lari exchange rate. In the tariff set in 2019, 1 lari equaled to 2.97 USD. According to the decision made today, the lari exchange rate was set at 3.37 in the new tariff.
The new tariffs will be effective until June 1, 2023.
