As part of the expansion of trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, the countries plan not only to trade, but also to create joint ventures, President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gennadiy Chizhikov said at a joint meeting of the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Business Council, organized through the support of the Azerbaijani Agency for Development of Small and Medium Businesses, Trend reports.
“The active development of business relations is especially important during COVID-19 pandemic,” Chizhikov said.
"The creation of a business council between our countries is to implement the goals and objectives that were set by the presidents of our countries in terms of the development of economic relations,” he added. “It is important to actively involve not only big businesses, but also medium and small ones. Our current task is to involve young companies to international cooperation of our countries and cooperate actively."
Chizhikov stressed that the current trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Ukraine (about $800 million) does not correspond to the level of friendly relations.
“We can achieve more taking into account our fraternal relations and trade and economic ties,” president of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said. “We are interested in active work in this sphere. We plan not only to trade with each other, but also to create joint ventures in mechanical engineering, information technologies and in a number of other spheres.”
“The level of economic cooperation between our countries must pass from millions to billions and this figure must be increased every year,” Chizhikov said. "Our countries can do this."
An agreement on the establishment of the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Business Council was signed in Baku between Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijani Agency for Development of Small and Medium Businesses Orkhan Mammadov and President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gennadiy Chizhikov on June 24, 2021.
