Petkim petrochemical complex of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Turkey continues research on long-term investment plans that will expand its product portfolio and further increase its market share, Trend quoted head of the SOCAR Turkey Refinery and Petrochemicals Business Unit, director general of Petkim petrochemical complex Anar Mammadov as saying.

“For the coming year, sustainability will be one of the most important issues on our agenda, as is the case with all companies. We have mapped our sustainability priorities in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We initiated the Sustainable Management System Project in order to directly associate independent activities on economic-environmental-social-governmental issues with business results and to create a medium and long-term sustainability roadmap,” Mammadov told Turkish media.

“We started important projects such as impact analysis and marine life monitoring program. The sectors in which we operate both offer opportunities to the people of the region with their employment potential and contribute positively to the gross national product of the country with their production capacity.”

Petkim is the first and the sole integrated petrochemical facility in Turkey. It is the largest exporter in the Aegean region. Petkim’s production capacity is 3.6 million tons per year. The petrochemical complex produces around 60 different types of products and exports to 78 countries. The complex meets about 20 percent of Turkey’s demand for petrochemical products.
