Iran can create large-scale opportunities for development of the mining industry in the Kashan Special Economic Zone in Isfahan Province (central Iran), Director of the zone Behzad Kazemian said, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

According to Kazemian, there are various mines in Iran’s Kashan Special Economic Zone, and it is possible to produce metal (iron, copper, etc.), non-metal (barite, heat-resistant soil, dolomite, etc.), construction materials (gypsum, lime, etc.), decorative stones (marble, granite, etc.) in the mentioned zone.

The director added that at present, 11.8 trillion rials (about $281 million) is needed for the development of the 1st phase of this zone. If the needed money is provided, 19,500 people will be employed.

“So far, 850 billion rials (about $20.2 million) worth of investments have been made in this zone. As a result, a number of facilities were created on the 5-hectare land and 145 people were employed,” he said.
