Kazakhstan reports decrease in extraction of iron ores

The production volume of iron ores in Kazakhstan amounted to 37.6 million tons from January through August 2022, which is 12.2 percent less than during the same period of 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

According to the data, iron ores production amounted to 4.4 million tons in August 2022, which is 15.3 percent less than in August 2021.

Production of copper ores grew by 7 percent compared to the same period last year, having amounted to 87.6 million tons (11.2 million tons in August 2022, an increase by 13.3 percent compared to the same month in 2021).

Production of zinc and copper ores amounted to 3.7 million tons during the reporting period, which indicates an increase of 7.5 percent compared to the same period of last year.

The production volume of zinc and copper ores was 463,900 tons in August 2022, which is 12.7 percent more than in August 2021.

Production of gold ores amounted to 26.2 million tons over the reporting period, which is 19.2 percent more than during the same period of 2021. The volume of gold ores produced in August 2022 was 3.9 million tons, which is 27 percent more than in August 2021.

Production of lead and zinc ores amounted to 5.9 million tons, which is 10.7 percent more than during the same period of 2021 (696,900 tons in August 2022, up by 11.2 percent compared to August 2021).

As reported, the production of manganese ores amounted to 233,700 tons, which is 71.3 percent less than during the same period of 2021 (18,400 tons in August 2022, a decrease of 81.7 percent compared to August 2021).

Production of chrome ores amounted to 4.03 million tons, which is 8.6 percent more than during the same period of 2021 (513,000 tons in August 2022, an increase of 23.9 percent compared to August 2021).
