Iran has the potential to fully cover its local bitumen need, and also possibly export some $1 billion worth of bitumen, especially to countries which have trade ties with Iran, said the head of Iran Bitumen Association Davood Mohammadi, Trend reports via YJC.
"Iran Bitumen Association currently has 80 members that include big, average and small production companies, while several production units have already requested to join the association," he said.
"The current challenge in this industry is that there is no particular regulator organization to manage various subjects such as issuing operation permits, etc. That has created disruption in the performance of industry and related industries," he said.
"Long and complicated bureaucratic procedures that have to do with returning the export foreign currency revenue is another challenge for the bitumen industry," he said.
