The first vice president of Iran Mohammad Mokhber called the construction of the Rasht-Astara Railway a priority for the government, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The Rasht-Astara part is part of the mega railway project of the North-South Railway Project which will be launched as soon as possible, said Mokhber.
The Astara–Rasht–Qazvin railway is a transport corridor that connects existing railways of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iran. The Rasht-Astara section, as part of the Qazvin-Rasht-Astara railway, is currently under construction.
