Today Chairman of Tajikistan's Sughd region Rajabboy Ahmadzoda met with the Governor of Uzbekistan's Fergana region Khairullo Bozorov, Trend reports citing the region's official website.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the topical issues of collaboration and expressed their readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Sughd and Fergana regions.
As reported, trade turnover between Tajikistan's Sughd region and Uzbekistan from January through August 2022 totaled $197 million.
"Sughd region has good economic cooperation with the Fergana, Samarkand, Jizzakh, Namangan and Tashkent, and Tajik and Uzbek entrepreneurs are actively involved in the implementation of joint projects," the message says.
According to Ahmadzoda, there is a big potential for establishing new joint ventures in the field of processing cotton, fruits, and canned food, and the production of clothing, and footwear.
Meanwhile, the total trade turnover of the Sughd region with Uzbekistan amounted to $207.5 million in 2021.
