Loading/unloading activity at Iran’s ports up

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 6 percent in the 5th month of the current Iranian year (July 23 through August 22, 2022), compared to the same month of the last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 12.5 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of this, about 6.4 million tons were loaded and about 6.1 million tons were unloaded.

“In total, 4.92 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 5th month, which is an increase of 21.9 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2.87 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and about 2.05 million tons were unloaded. The loaded oil products increased by 24.7 percent and unloaded products - by 18.1 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 2.14 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is a decrease of 16.1 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 192,000 tons were loaded and about 1.95 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 444,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 5th month, which is a decrease of 28.5 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 360,000 tons were loaded and about 83,500 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, 1.88 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is an increase of 1 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year. Of this, 1.53 million tons were loaded and about 352,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 5th month, 64,500 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports. This is an increase of 60.1 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 8,940 tons were loaded and 55,600 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, over 524,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 5th month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 50.6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 412,000 tons were loaded and about 113,000 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, 84,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 5th month, which is a decrease of 2.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2,500 tons of goods were loaded and 81,600 tons were unloaded.

A total of 511,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products increased by 36.4 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 225,000 tons were loaded and about 286,000 tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 1.92 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 5th month, which is an increase of 3.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, about 791,000 tons of container products were loaded and about 1.13 million tons were unloaded.

Moreover, 5.4 million tons of goods were exported and 3.1 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 5th month of the current Iranian year.

Also, 138,000 tons of cargo were loaded and about 380,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

According to the statistics, 708,000 tons of cargo were loaded and about 2.32 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage in the 5th month. Also, about 143,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 153,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the 5th month, 5,530 tons of cargo were loaded and about 139,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
