Cargo movements at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port increases

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), increased by 7.5 percent in the 5th month of the current Iranian year (July 23 through August 22, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, 3.98 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 5th month. Of this, 2.09 million tons were loaded and 1.89 million tons were unloaded.

“Also, 1.98 million tons of cargo were exported and 1.67 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. At the same time, 30,400 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit,” the statistics said.

Within the 5th month, 75,400 tons of cargo were loaded and about 155,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.

According to the statistics, 5,750 tons of cargo were loaded and 9,870 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. Furthermore, 1,380 tons of cargo were loaded, and 54,800 tons were unloaded for other purposes.

So, 1.38 million tons of essential products, about 124,000 tons of metal products, 377,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 4,500 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, and about 378,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 5th month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 31,200 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, about 126,000 tons of container products, and about 1.56 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In general, about 12.5 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 5th month of the current Iranian year. Of this, about 6.4 million tons were loaded and about 6.1 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
