Kazakhstan unveils passenger transport indicators

A total 609.4 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in August 2022, which is 6.7 percent less than in August 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported over the period from January through August 2022 amounted to 4.5 billion people, which is 8.5 percent more year-on-year compared to 4.1 billion over last year.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the city amounted to 158.9 million people in August and 1.1 billion people over the reporting period of 2022, which is 4.6 percent less and 4.1 percent more than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by the Kostanay region with 60.03 million people transported in August 2022 (an increase of 4.4 percent compared to August 2021). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 427.09 million people, which compared to 386.1 million during the same period last year, indicates a 10.6-percent increase.

Pavlodar region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in August 2022 (51.2 million people, up by 5.2 percent). The number of passengers transported in the region over the period from January through August 2022 amounted to 365.9 million, which is 7.4 percent more than during the same period last year (340.5 million people).

The least passenger volume was recorded in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 3.1 million in August 2022, which is 1.9 percent less than in August 2021.

The volume of passengers transported over eight months of 2022 was 22.9 million, which is 19.5 percent more year-on-year.
